FLIGHT ENGINEER DUTY

The flight engineer will perform the specific duties
A: Maintenance, servicing, inspection, loading, and security of the helicopter.
B: Completes the daily inspection prior to the arrival pilot for preflight. Helicopter will be serviced, log book current and correct, and equipment security.
C: Accompanies pilot during preflight inspection, performs the inspection with the pilot.
D: Checks the security of each area inspected.
E: Assist in seating and securing passengers, checks load security.
F: Ensures the helicopter is clear during all starting procedures and informs pilot any objects which would pose a hazard to the helicopter during all phases of ground operation.
G: Visually inspects engine and ramp area for proper operation.
H: Remove chocks, Remove the ground wire and closes ramp door when called for bay the pilot.
I: Observes and gives clearance to pilot during taxi and hover operation. Reports any object or condition which would pose a hazard to the helicopter. When the helicopter is being taxied in obstructed area, the flight engineer or other crewmembers my be recurred to act as taxi director or blade watchers. Taxi directors and blade watchers must be familiar with CH-47 ground turning characteristics.
J: Perform check of ramp area every 30 minutes of flight.
K: Check all system during flight.
L: Service and secures helicopter after shutdown.
